After 5 years as head coach of the U.S national team Bob Bradley was fired today. This firing comes almost completely out of the blue. Bradley's job certainly was in contention over the summer after the United States had a disappointing world cup, however it seemed as though the United States Soccer Confederation was going to put their faith in him. He was signed to an extension in August of 2010, which made it seem as though his job was safe. This proved to be wrong as he was fired today.
Bradley was 43-25 and 12 through his 5 years as the American coach. This is usually considered a good record for a manager, however it's given an asterisks due to the weak competition in CONCACAF. Sunil Gulati clearly thought that it was time for a change, and most U.S soccer fans agree. This is an American team that has shown great promise at times, but has fallen short of many expectations.
The U.S will now be looking for a replacement to head up there mens national team. The clear frontrunner is Jurgen Klinsmann, who is the former German National Team manager.
